The wines of Cantina Semonte come to life on the gentle hills of the western area of the vast Gubbio territory, where environment and nature are the splendid setting for Gubbio, a breathtaking medieval town rich in history, culture and traditions. The Semonte Winery is located within the Azienda Agraria Semonte farm, a landscape of particular beauty whose land originates an ancient and noble wine, of great excellence. In the estate takes place the perfect geometries of the vine rows that give life and flavor to magnificent wines: Battista (Classic Method), Monteleto (Chardonnay), Coldo (Merlot), Cordaro (Dolcetto) and Costante (Merlot Reserve). An ancient tradition that lives on today, in the business of Giovanni Colaiacovo’s family, which has always believed in the values of a unique territory of its kind and whose members, now by right, are authentic winemakers in Gubbio.

Gubbio, a Town of Stone

Gubbio is “the most beautiful mediaeval town” with a fascinating, unspoilt, historic town centre. This is the “Town of the Ceri”, a centuries-old symbol of local folklore, with which the local people identify so closely. Gubbio is also the town with the world’s largest Christmas tree. This is a recent, genial invention that clearly shows local unity, solidarity and values for the future of Gubbio. Gubbio has all this to offer and much more. The landscape is extremely beautiful and its agricultural products are of superior quality, as the Semonte wines go to prove. Each terroir has its own essential orographic context, morphology and climate for winegrowing, which Cantina Semonte has inherited and of which it is also the custodian.
